HOPE | Acrylic, oil and ink on canvas, diptych, 2 panels each 60” x 72”

Collaboration with Puerto Rican designer Rosabel Paraliticci

A year-long collaboration with Puerto Rican designer Rosabel Paraliticci, this diptych honors Sadako Sasaki and the Japanese Senbazuru tradition. Featuring over 1,500 hand-painted, individually sewn paper cranes on canvas—each using 36 cubic inches of fabric—it commemorates Sadako’s quest for peace after surviving the Hiroshima bombing, where she folded 644 cranes before her death at 12. A symbol of hope, it includes her legacy as a call to never lose faith, crafted with love and respect for this tradition.
