Live Bulb | Acrylic, ink, metal leaf, and pigments on canvas | 40” x 80”
“The…diminishing humanity of those fighting to hold jobs they don’t want…” – Charles Bukowski, Letter to John Martin (1969). This piece imagines a living lightbulb with a circulatory system (or magical forest), resisting the dehumanizing grind of unfulfilling work. Quoting Isadora Duncan, it urges us to reject domination and embrace joy. Let’s not allow jobs that don’t satisfy us to tame our spirits, infusing life into the inanimate.
